CBT is one of the most commonly recommended treatments for people of all ages who are dealing with initial and mild cases of anxiety and depression.
That’s why we believe everyone should learn about the principles that underpin it.
CBT stands for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. CBT involves understanding how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours all work together and how they can effect the way we feel.
Throughout the presentation we look at exactly what is meant when people say things like ‘you need to think more positive’ or ‘you need to change your thoughts’ and we will explain how to do this.
The presentation will cover some of the challenges with current mental health advice. It will also explain how changing behaviours and thoughts can change your feelings and put all of this into life like scenarios.
-
CBT has a large range of established evidence supporting it.
All of the information in the presentation is supported by this evidence. -
As CBT has been found to be effective in nearly all age ranges, this presentation is for everyone.
We have three different presentations we use depending on our audience.1 - High School Students
2 - Parents
3 - Businesses and other organisations
It is important for young people, parents and the wider community to all have a basic understanding of the CBT principles. This ensures everyone is able to assist themselves and others when they are not feeling their best.If you aren’t sure which presentation is most suitable for your organisation, please reach out and we will support you in deciding.

Yes we certainly do.
The presentation itself is designed so that anyone who may struggle during or after the session has the tools to understand their emotions and maximise their happiness.
We do understand that some people may need further support so we have created a ‘Support Document’ that can be found on the ‘Resources’ page of this website.
Each participant will also receive a Happiness Passport to take home with them. -
Larry is involved in the session as a form of Animal Assisted Intervention.
His attendance supports in making people feel more comfortable in the space, assisting to break down the tension in the room and giving people an outlet during the presentation.
Mental Health can be a difficult subject to talk about and Larry is just one way of providing assistance to make it more enjoyable. -
If there are any concerns about Larry’s attendance we are happy to work through them.
We will always try to find a way to have Larry involved, however there may be occasions where it isn’t suitable for Larry to attend. -
Yes we do!
Please head to the ‘Resources’ page for all of our Insurances, Risk Assessments and Expected Behaviours for our Sessions.
The Program
-
Larry is a 7 year old English Cocker Spaniel.
-
Yes he is!
He received his Therapy Dog Accreditation in 2022.
Larry went through around 4 months of training and a large assessment to ensure he is comfortable in a range of situations. -
Yes! Larry loves pats and cuddles.
Unlike assistance dogs, Therapy Dogs love getting pats and being played with. -
For sessions up to 30 people, yes he tries to.
Like humans if Larry is sick, too tired or is just feeling off unfortunately he won’t be able to attend.
Larry has regular checks to ensure he is healthy and will do his best to try to make it to all sessions.
Please read the ‘Expectations with Larry’ document under the ‘Resources’ tab.
Sessions over 30 people make it difficult for attendees to connect with Larry so his impact is lost. Larry will also only attend a maximum of two sessions per day. -
You still get to see Damo.
The presentation itself isn’t effected by Larrys attendance.
